Te hononga ki te whenua - Our connection to the land
Ngāi Tamarāwaho is mana whenua in the Tauranga/Te Papa peninsula, the Kopurererua Valley extending back to Pūwhenua and the Kaimai range; the Waikareao Estuary and the wider harbour of Te Awanui and beyond to Karewa and Tuhua (Mayor) islands.
Ngāi Tamarāwaho have a unique cultural and historical relationship within the landscape of Tauranga Moana. We have a responsibility to ensure the lands and water are treated with respect and cared for. The establishment of a native plant nursery is the catalyst for generating Mana Motuhake within the rohe of Ngāi Tamarāwaho and will provide opportunities for the hapū to thrive through reconnection to the whenua.
